Waterloo is a consolidation of Randolph and Atwater Townships situated in southern Portage County. The consolidation took place in 1965 with the schools existing as separate programs. In September, 1968, the doors to a new high school opened. A new Central Services building and bus garage were constructed in 1980. 

The “Viking” mascot was chosen along with school colors of burgundy and white.

The High School Grades 9-12 are departmentalized by subject area. Required and elective course offerings in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Language, Business, Physical Education, Computers, Music and Art are available. A minimum number of units of credit are necessary for promotion to grades 10-12. A guidance counselor is available to assist students with problems and educational plans. Twenty-one credits are required for graduation.

The Middle Grades 6-8 continue instruction in core subjects. Sixth grade is differentiated by instructional blocks of time. Seventh and Eighth grade subjects are expanded to prepare students for the high school curriculum. Students are involved in student government, extracurricular activities, and school sponsored activities. Parental involvement is encouraged to strengthen the bond between home and school.


 Waterloo Elementary School 330-947-2153

The Elementary Kindergarten classes are all-day, every day sessions and serve student needs in academic readiness and social skills. Articulated instruction in grades 1-5 includes Reading, Language Arts, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, Library and Computers. Teachers certified in Music and Physical Education provide instruction for all grades. Title I tutors work with individuals or small groups of students with specific needs in reading and math. Certified Special Education teachers service the needs as determined by the student’s IEP.
