Updates for Waterloo Middle School During the
 Covid-19 School Mandated Shutdown
(Updated 4/23/2020)
  • Students will be receiving letter grades for the final grading period. 
  • Students, please make sure you are checking your email daily as all assignments will now be in digital format. 
  • See below for the schedule you should try to follow during your remote learning.
  • See below for a schedule of office hours for your teachers. This does not mean teachers will only be available during these times. They are still available during all scheduled school days, so please continue to reach out to them as needed. Office hours are meant for you to have almost immediate access to your teacher during that time. 

Middle School Office Hours

Starting the week of April 6, teachers will be holding office hours to assist students with any questions they may have. Teachers will send emails to students as to what platform they will be using to hold these office hours, but students will have weekly access to them at this specific time. Teachers will still be available at other times of the week, but office hours will be live as students/parents will be given a response during this time.

Office Hours - EVERY WEDNESDAY( except 4/15/20)

  • 6th grade-10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M.

  • 7th grade-11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.

  • 8th grade-1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.


Middle School Schedule of Classes

To help you all manage your time better, we have created a schedule for you to follow each week. This will allow you to really focus on certain subjects each day and not have to complete something from each class daily. It is important that you remain engaged in your studies and continue to communicate with your teachers. 

Mondays and Thursdays- You’ll complete work for periods 1, 4, and 7

Tuesdays and Fridays-You’ll complete work for periods 2, 5, and 6

Wednesdays-Office hours and catch up any missing assignments

For the week of April 6-9, the schedule will be as follows:

Monday and Thursday- You’ll complete work for periods 1, 4, and 7

Tuesdays and Wednesday-You’ll complete work for periods 2, 5, and 6

Wednesdays-Office hours 

**Please bear with us as we navigate this new style of teaching/learning. This is a new format for many of our teachers/students. We will get through this because we are #vikingstrong!**

All orders must be submitted through the link above. No paper orders will be done this year due to the mandated state closure.

Incentive Program

Hi students!

As promised, here is information on the NEW incentive program that we're doing during the school mandated shut down! This will start tomorrow!

  • Each week (besides spring break), all grade levels will receive two Google Form surveys from me that will have a question for you to answer and submit. These questions are being sent to me by your teachers, so you should know the answer or be able to look them up. Answers must be submitted by 10:00 P.M. on the day the survey was released.
  • Surveys will be sent during school hours on a random schedule throughout the school week. Therefore, you must check your email often so that you don't miss one. For example, I could send one survey on Monday at 9:00 A.M. and the next survey on Thursday at 2:00 P.M. Regardless, all grades will get two questions each week to answer and submit.
  • If you get the answer correct, your name will be entered into a drawing for the opportunity to win a $5 gift card of your choosing. Keep in mind that many businesses are closed right now, so I will do my best to get the gift card you want. So, there will be two winners from each grade, each week, for a total of six winners! All you have to do is check your email, complete the Google form with the correct answer, and be entered into the weekly drawing. Easy peasy!
  • I will draw the winning names on the weekends and post them to our MS Facebook page, the Waterloo Local School District Webpage (under the MS tab), and email the winners. 
  • Bottomline, check your email daily!

Information regarding Free/Reduced Lunch

Important Info about Free/Reduced Lunch from the letter that was sent home with specific students last week:

A member of your family was on the free and reduced lunch program during the 2018-2019 school year. State guidelines allow for free and reduced lunch benefits to continue into the next school year to allow time for new applications to be completed and processed for the current school year.
According to our records, we have not received a new application for your child, and the last day for us to honor last year’s application is 10/9/2019. Since we did not received a new application for Free/Reduced meals for the 2019-2020 school year YOUR CHILD'S STATUS WILL BE CHANGED TO FULL PAY.
If you feel your child is eligible to participate in the free and reduced meal program for the 2019-2020 school year please complete and return a Free and Reduced price meal application as soon as possible. Only one application per household is needed. Applications are available in the school office, can print a copy from the Food Service page on the district web site or you can apply on line. Go to the Waterloo web site (www.viking.portage.k12.oh.us), click on Food Service tab and there you will be able to access the link to apply.
Cut off date for carry over status from last year is Oct. 9, 2019. If we do not have a current application on file and processed your child will change to FULL price meals on Oct. 9, 2019. BREAKFAST IS $1.50, LUNCH for -5th is $2.50, LUNCH for 6th - 12th is $2.75


Acme Receipts

Attention all you Acme Shoppers...Save your Acme Receipts and turn them in to the office. 

This gives us an opportunity to earn money!

The program runs until December 28 and receipts should be turned in no later than January 17, 2020.
